Aims of the Tanker Safety project

The aim of the project is to significantly reduce the risk of a large-scale oil tanker disaster in the Gulf of Finland. This involves contributing to the working methods and data transfer systems used on the ship’s bridge and by vessel traffic services through open-minded development of navigation practices.

The transmission of route plans to the GOFREP vessel traffic service enables proactive control of vessel traffic. The information relayed to the vessels, on the other hand, contributes to their safe navigation. The aims of the Tanker Safety project will be achieved using the ENSI (Enhanced Navigation Support Information) navigation service, which will be developed for this purpose.
